Lori has dedicated her life to the field of dentistry and has been a Registered Dental Hygienist for more than thirty years. She joined our team in 2006. Lori did her training and earned her RDH degree from Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).

In her free time, Lori loves spending time with her family. She has four grandchildren that she adores! She enjoys walking her two dogs with her daughter. She also loves hitting the bike trails with her friends. She is a wonderful care giver to both her friends and family.

Jenny
Registered Dental Hygienist
Jenny has been in the field of dentistry for more than 20 years, beginning her career as a Registered Dental Assistant she has been a Registered Dental Hygienist for more than fifteen years, and she joined our team in 2021. She did her training and earned both her Liberal Arts A.A. degree and her A.S. RDH degree from Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).

In her free time, Jenny loves hanging out and spending time with her family. She also enjoys writing, singing, and playing the guitar, and in the summertime, you might find her swimming and soaking up the rays at the pool. She also loves exercising, and as a wife and mother of two school-aged children, she keeps busy enjoying time spent with her active family.
Jenny’s passion for dentistry stems from her love of providing thorough and quality care to ensure a clean and healthy smile for all of our patients at McDonald Family Dentistry.

Registered Dental Hygienist
Alexa has been a Registered Dental Hygienist for more than seven years, and Alexa joined our team in 2023. She did her training and earned her degree from Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).

In her free time, Alexa enjoys watching sports, especially the University of Iowa Hawkeyes! As a music enthusiast, she loves going to concerts both locally and traveling to fun destinations to enjoy live music venues. Alexa is outdoorsy and likes to spend time outside on lakes and rivers, and she cherishes her time spent with friends and family. As well, she is an exercise enthusiast and enjoys working out.

Monica
Front Office Patient Care Coordinator & Insurance Specialist
Monica has worked in the dental field for more than twenty years! She has worked as a registered dental assistant, continuing her expertise by earning her EFDA, and transitioned into the role of being a receptionist, patient care coordinator and eventually an insurance specialist. We’re lucky to benefit from Monica’s vast, diverse dental office experience and excellent patient care & customer service here at McDonald Family Dentistry for the past 13 years!

In her free time, Monica enjoys traveling to unique destinations with her husband, John, and their two young children. She has an artistic eye for photography and you might catch her behind a camera lens capturing smiles of families, recent high school & college graduates and newborns! Monica is a talented singer and has been known to volunteer for her church choir, sometimes even with her children. And as a sports enthusiast, she likes to cheer on the Green Bay Packers!

Regan
Registered Dental Assistant
Regan has been a Registered Dental Assistant for more than thirteen years, and Regan joined our team in 2015. Regan initially joined our office as an RDA, and now she is the first smile you’ll be greeted by when entering McDonald Family Dentistry as our Front Receptionist and Director of First Impressions. She’s truly a multifaceted expert in her field!

In her free time, Regan loves spending time with her husband and their young daughter. She is a bit of an epicurean and enjoys trying out new restaurants with friends. As a huge sports enthusiast, you might find Regan cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones and the Minnesota Vikings! She also enjoys traveling and going on outdoor excursions to warm weather destinations.
Her passion for dentistry stems from her enthusiasm for the teachable moments the field of family dentistry offers. No matter what the age of the patient, there is always an opportunity for Regan to share her knowledge and wisdom about optimal oral health care & maintaining good oral hygiene. Regan enjoys visiting with our patients about their treatment options and opportunities. As well, Regan enjoys working with her friends – and sees them as friends, not just her co-workers – here at McDonald Family Dentistry!

In her free time, Lori loves to spend time with her family, including her two daughters and most recently, her beautiful granddaughter! She enjoys having fun attending live music venues and being outdoors at the lake hanging out and camping with family and friends. Her creativity and keen eye allow Lori to craft, making beautiful “funky flatware”, fantastic baked goods & she also loves the art of organization. You might catch Lori in some of her favorite colors of cardinal red and gold cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones and Kansas City Chiefs!

Andrea
Registered Dental Assistant, EFDA
Andrea is our newest team member at McDonald Family Dentistry, and she earned her RDA/EFDA from Des Moines Area Community College, bringing more than fifteen years of experience to our office this year!

In her free time, you might find Andrea in a gym weightlifting or doing yoga. She loves her walks outside and enjoys being outside on beautiful, sunny days. She cherishes spending time with her family, especially as an “aunt extraordinaire” spoiling her nieces and nephews. Andrea is also a fellow Iowa Hawkeye fan!
Her passion for dentistry stems from helping people feel confident about their smiles, and as an expert in her field as an EFDA dental assistant, you’ll hear Andrea educating our patients with useful insights about maintaining excellent oral hygiene here at McDonald Family Dentistry!
Ann
Part-Time Office Manager

- School/Training: BA, Elementary Education (1993) and MS, Science Education (1998) – University of Iowa
Ann is Dr. McDonald’s wife, and she enjoys working at the office in the afternoons as the part-time practice manager. Originally an elementary teacher, Ann has been with Dr. McDonald since his DAT (Dental Admission Test) back in 1993 and even served as one of his first patients during his Iowa Dental Board Exam upon his graduation from the University of Iowa Dental School in 1998! She has thoroughly enjoyed helping Dr. McDonald establish and build his vision of McDonald Family Dentistry in the wonderful community of Urbandale, IA, since its start more than twenty years ago, in August 2004.
In her free time and as a native to suburban Des Moines, Ann enjoys spending time with her family and two grown children. For exercise, she loves practicing yoga, as well as taking long walks with her two dogs and going for long bike rides along the fantastic trails all around our great city and metropolitan area. She has always had a love of the arts, including attending musical concerts and reading good literature, and enjoys socializing with friends and her book club group. On many weekends (especially during football season in the fall), you’ll find Ann and Dr. Chris donning their black and gold & cheering on their alma mater and favorite team, the University of Iowa Hawkeyes!
Ann takes pride in being able to help create a comfortable environment that makes patients feel like they’re a special part of our practice here at McDonald Family Dentistry. Her special touches help patients feel as welcome as guests in their home.
